A long time coming!!

I haven't posted on this blog for quite a while, but I have finally got around to doing it!! I have been pretty busy packing and cleaning, preparing for the big move over to China. Now it is almost upon me, and I feel so excited it's unbelievable. Also, the fact that I will be having a weeks relaxing beach holiday with Jessica before I start in China is something else to look forward to. I haven't seen Jessica since Christmas and I can't wait :) This past week has been cool, I finished work last Tuesday. The school had a "party" after school finished at 2.15pm, it was a lovely day and we sat outside scoffing food and the like. I then went to pick up my hire car (thanks to the lovely Lena, another teacher at the school!!). My luck was clearly in as they upgraded me to a Volkswagen Golf plus, rather than the lowly Clio I had actually reserved. It had air conditioning as well, which you can imagine has been a god send in the heat we've been having recently. I got home in the car by about 5pm, and was determined that I was going to go up to my Mum's in Yorkshire that same evening. So I started to organise all my boxes ready to pack into the car. It was so hot, that the sweat was literally dipping off me!! I changed shirts, said my goodbyes and was off by 7pm :) The drive home was almost trance like; the car cruised so quietly, something that I wasn't used to with my old car "the brute" ha ha... no,but my old car was so noisy and uncouth that this car seemed so refined. I didn't have any music on the whole journey, I just sat and cruised - it was weird! Now we get on to what I have been doing at my mum's; well on Friday we had a BBQ and I went out with Foggin and Rick for a few beers around Malton. It was weird to see how things have changed since we used to go out there as young-erns!! Then on Saturday I went with my mum, sister and lil' bro to a place called the Ham & Cheese, a pub come restaurant near my mum's house (-ish). The food was really good!! I had a fillet steak, and it was so "melt in your mouth". Of course we all ate too much and came back feeling bloated. That didn't stop us cracking open a bottle of champagne though!! Sunday we had another BBQ and more steak. When the weather is this good you can't stop having BBQ's!! I go to Newcastle on Wednesday to see a few people ,then fly out to China on Thursday. I will only stay there for one night as I will fly to see Jessica in Sanya...... it's all so exciting :) Well, this post has been more informative than interesting, but hope it gives you some idea of what I have been up to lately....... Pictures will follow.

Making decisions.....

As all my friends know, I am very bad at making decisions. It doesn't even have to be a major decision, something as simple as "shall I buy item X or item XX at the supermarket!! I can stand in a shop for several minutes waying up in my mind the pro's and con's of whether I should buy something. I think I just can't take anything lightly and make a purchase on the spur of the moment, unless I already know that I need that thing 100% already. It's funny really, as sometimes I weigh things up too much and it can be like a battle in my head. If it isn't clear one way or the other I encounter a brain meltdown and physically can't make any decision. Numerous friends have been frustrated by this lack of decision making, and I just can't seem to solve this age old set of dilemmas. There is another side to this as well, the issue of over researched future events... ha ha :) For example, when I knew I would be moving to China, I spent hours searching the net for websites, blogs and forums talking about where I would be moving, the school I would be working for, the food, the people, the crime rate, possible holidays that I could take accompanied by costs!! the list could go on!! I can't just say to myself "I'm going to China" and forget about it until it happens, I have to spent so much time doing meaningless research and imagining what it would be like. This does have it's good sides though, as when I book hotels for example, I scan the net for all possible hotel reviews and usually end up somewhere pretty sweet!! But there are many downsides!! Any advice anyone :)
